Founded by Himansha Yadav, 2nd generation in a family with roots in clothing and Indian textiles, with 40 years of experience in the industry.
Being the first born in the family I could witness the hardwork & gradual growth of my father and my uncles . My favourite childhood play was climbing the huge mountains of fabrics , which were touching the ceilings of our house. The fast moving needle on the sewing machine gave me goose bumps. Gathering of all karigars n embroidery labours seemed like a house warming . Collecting bobbins and unraveling the thread cones were one of my hobbies. The smell of mitti ka teel mixed with metallic dyes used to transfer a design on fabric is still one of my favourite fragrances. The perfect strokes of pencil on a khaka sheet to create an embroidery design by my father and uncle was the best thing to look at.
Graduating from National Institute of Fashion Technology (Delhi), Himansha was presented with Most creative and Innovative designer of the year (sponsored by Swarovski element) . The collection revolved around sustainable fabrics with commercial viability of embroideries , production friendly and easy on pocket for end users.
She has worked with some of the India’s largest buying & Design houses like impulse and triburg , export houses , Great designers like Rahul mishra, Samant chauhan, Kiran uttam ghosh and on various national and international projects before starting her first label OMARA in 2015 and D ARTISTS. Himansha has always had a keen interest in understanding the technicalities of fashion production and to explore alternative scalable solutions to large problems like polyester pollution and the carbon profiling .
That’s why , when started to search for simple everyday clothing that stood by our collective beliefs, was environmentally responsible and didn’t cost 4x the price of a decent product. Coming from a background of over 4 decades, it quickly became apparent that there was a price inefficiency in the marketplace, but a strong desire for sustainable product that could compete with fast fashion
Giving it more thought , we slowly started to realize that true “sustainablility” in a larger sense of the world , will not really be achieved if the actual solutions are not approachable to a larger section of the population.
We are far where we ideally aspire to be but we will get there together with you. The road ahead won’t be easy , but worth doing .
